MY CAREER PATH: AN OVERVIEW
I eventually switched career paths into the world of nutrition and fitness. I decided to pursue the nutrition path after seeing how large of an impact nutrition played in the lives of those around me.
I transferred to San Diego State University to complete my undergrad and receive my B.S. in Foods and Nutrition, while completing all Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) courses to be eligible to apply for my dietetic internship.
I Started as a Fine Art major, where I worked freelance. I was skilled in different painting mediums, such as oil, acrylic, and watercolor, freehand drawing, pen and ink illustration, graphic design, and realized I wasn't feeling fulfilled with this career path.
I completed A one-year personal training program at San Diego Miramar College where I obtained hands-on experience in the field, while simultaneously working towards completing my courses in nutrition.
I was accepted into the Wellness Workdays Dietetic Internship program where I was able to choose my rotations locally and remotely. I interned at Wellness Workdays for Nutrition Communications and Marketing, UC San Diego for Food Service Management, San Diego Red Cross WIC for Community and Marketing, and Eating Recovery Center for their outpatient disordered eating recovery program.
After completing over 1,000 supervised practice hours and passing the national board exam, I received my license and was able to call myself a lRegistered Dietitian.
Throughout my career I have been an active member in my community through volunteering, holding positions with my local nutrition organizations, and spreading awareness through my social media platforms. Health and Fitness are a big part of my life and I love to spread my passion to those around me. Becoming a registered dietitian has helped me gain the knowledge and authority needed to create a bigger change in the world.
